SEATOUN INDUCTION
MINISTER WELCOMED
The new minister of the Seatoun Presbyterian Church, the Rev. B. C. Dowling, M.A., was welcomed by its members on Tuesday, the ordination and mduction being conducted by the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, the Rev.: P. J. Wainwright. There was a- large gathering in the church and later in the hall.
The Rev. G. W. Hunt (Miramar), in the course of a sermon stressed the need for more spirituality and Christian outlook. As it was in the days of St. Paul, there were too many "isms" and distractions from spiritual devotion to God, he said. "Religion begins in the* home and with ourselves," he concluded.
The Rev. A. B. Kilroy addressed the new minister and congregation, pointing out their obligations to each other. At the conclusion of the service, the minister having met each member of the congregation, an adjournment was made to the hall, where the minister was welcomed. Mrs. Dowling was presented with a bouquet on behalf of the ladies' guild by Mrs. ' McGregor, and the Rev. Mr. Dowling was presented with a cushion by Mrs. McFarlane, the oldest member of the church. Welcoming speeches were made by Mr. Barrett, Mr. J. McMillan, the Rev. C- E. Willis (Anglican), and the Rev. E. S. Hoddinott (Methodist).
The Rev. Mr. Dowling replied on behalf of himself and his wife, appreciating the warm welcome.
The music was supplied by Miss Russell, the organist. A vocal duet was given by Misses Valeric Roberts and Betty Barnsley. At the conclusion of proceedings supper was served.
