MIRAMAR ESPERANTO SOCIETY
The first annual meeting of the Miramar Esperanto Society was held on Tuesday night in the clubroom, St. Aidan's Hall, Miramar Avenue. Mr. Bertram Potts, J.P., presided. The report of the committee, presented by Mr. James E. Wells, secretary, outlined the many activities and progress made by the society. Membership and finances were a matter for congratulation. In the course of the year Esperantist visitors from several foreign countries had been the guests of the society and demonstrated how easily Esperanto removes the language barrier.
Election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr. Bertram- Potts; vice-president, Mrs. Annie Wells; secretary, Mr. William Smith; treasurer, Mr. Colin Morrison; two general committee men, Messrs. James E. Wells and William Guest; auditor, Mr. L. S. Dust. ,'.
Special mention was made of "La Kroniko" ("The Chronicle"), the weekly organ of the society. Reference was made to the high standard of tfie production, and the members responsible were thanked for their efforts.
The policy of the society during the year had been to give an hour's tuition in several classes, afjter which to present a programme of diversified Esperanto items. Many original Esperanto sketches—both dramatic and farcical-^ had been presented as well as lecturettes, monologues, and musical items This was considered satisfactory and the new committee was instructed to carry out a similar policy next year
