The Conciliation Commissioner (Mr. M. J. Reardon) presided. Mr. F. G. Young appeared as advocate iat ±he association and Mr. W- J. MKunijoy for the .employers. Fr-oceedings were taken in vcoxomittee, but the following statement -wasissued to the Press ihis afternoon. ""The employers made a final offer of a 5s a week increase to .aH male ■ •workers axxd J2s 6d to female workers, except that tfchex-e shall be no differenI liation between the rates, of pay f or female and male workers in 3s±ttiiens other than two-handed or one-handed 'kitchens. ' " i ".Several other clauses in «repute were discussed and apparently ' there is possibility of a settlement being reached later today. The" council adjourned at 11.30 ajax until 3.15 ■paa."
