ALLEGATION OF MURDER

DAMAGES AWARDED

(Received December 7, 1.15 p.m.) CAPE TOWN, December 6. Mrs. Herman and her baby son were each awarded £500.

The Cape Town correspondent of "The Times" reported that in the most remarkable civil action in South Africa Mrs. Fanny Herman sued James William Hodgson for £3000 damages, alleging the murder of her husband, manager Of a pawnshop. Hodgson was acquitted on a charge of murder, and the widow took civil action on the allegation of unlawful killing.
