, Dr. F. A. Magilire, a well-known Sydney surgeon, who has made a study 6t cancer, will attend the tenth Aus-tralian-New Zealand cancer conference, to be held at Wellington from February 15-18. He will lecture in Wellington on cancer.-

- Mr. G. H. Mackley, General Manager of the New Zealand Railways, accompanied by his departmental officers, returned from Auckland last night on the completion of a trial railcar trip.

Mr. Colin Muston, who is to conduct the combined Auckland and Wellington Choral Societies in the "Messiah" on Saturday nijjht, arrived from Auckland by air today.

Mr. G. F. Mac Lean, engineer-man-ager of the Marlborough Electric Power Board, left by the Awatea last night on-a three weeks' holiday visit to Sydney.

Group-Captain T. EL Wilkes, Director of Civil Aviation, left for Sydney by the Awatea last night. He was accompanied by Mrs. Wilkes and they are expected to return to New Zealand on January 6.

Dr. F. T. Bowerbank left last night by the Awatea to attend the inaugural conference of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Sydney and will return to Wellington before Christmas.

Mr. F. G. Davidson, Wellington manager for H. C. Urlwin, Ltd.,' left last night for the South Island. ,

Mr. George Aldridge, secretary of the New Zealand Boxing Council, ha*, returned to Wellington, after a visit,to Napier.

Messrs. H. R. Penny (Okaiawa) and L. A. Robbins (Temuka), representatives respectively for the North and South Islands on the Honey Control Board, with Mr. W. W. Nelson (Otorohanga), Government nominee, are in town today on business connected with the industry. They were busy inter* viewing the Treasury officials all day, and expect to get away tomorrow.
