LIGHTS FOR THORNDON
Yesterday was a good day in Wellington in freedom from traffic accidents and. mishaps, apart from a spectacular lorry smash on the Hutt Road in the afternoon, and there good luck saved the spectacular from being tragic. One indication of the interest taken in the Safety Week campaign was that news of the collision went through the city within minutes of the accident.
There were the usual narrow scrapes and foolishnesses about the city and suburbs, but they came to nothing. The traffic office and the police alike were apologetic over having nothing further to offer in accident news, but they look forward to the same thing tomorrow.
Several measures for the improvement of traffic conditions were discussed by members of the City and Suburban Highways Board today, the
