HALLEY TO REAPPEAR

Halley, who claims an engagement in the maiden events at Woodville, has not raced for three years, his one and only appearance in public having been t to finish second to Silver River in a two-year-old event at Pabiatua in 1935. At that time he was expected to make a name for himself on the Turf, but owing to his developing unsoundness he had to be turned out. ; Halley is a chestnut son of Gainscourt and the Demosthenes-Mangaoroa mare Parearau, the dam previously of Pewa. This is a successful branch of the Omda family, its winners in the last thirty years having included Mahutonga (Auckland Cup), Fisher, Kopu, Labour iDay, and Alteration.
