WELLINGTON ESPERANTO

CLUB

The annual meeting of the Wellington Esperanto Club was held on Monday evening in the club's rooms, 61 Lower Cuba Street. Mr. E. A. Hornblow presided. f Mr. W. L. Edmanson, J.P., F.8.E.A., honorary life president, commented on the wonderful progress made in the club and by Esperantists throughout the world in furthering a movement, the chief aim of which was a better understanding among the peoples of the world.

Mr. Gordon* Blong. secretary, presented the committee's report, outlining the activities of the executive during the year. Visitors had been entertained from several countries, and the club had gained materially by these contacts.

The balance-sheet showed that the club was in a healthy financial position.

The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr. E. A. Hornblow; vicepresident. Mr. Vernon J. Leek, D.B.E.A;. secretary, Mr. Gordon Blong; treasurer, Mr. Frank Bailey; commHiee members. Mrs. F. Bailey, Messrs. D. Kirk. J. Major, Wm. Kerr, G. D. Ayson, and M. A. Carver.

A vote of thanks was accorded the Press.

It was decided to visit the Hutt Club during the weekend and to have a picnic at Plixnmerton on Sunday.
