Aftij r 40 years' service with the New Zealand Railways, Mr. E. S. Brittenden, .'District Traffic Manager, Christchurda, will retire as from January 1, 1939. / Mr. Brittenden, who is now 55 years* of age, has had a most successful career in the service, and is one of th«; best-known railwaymen in New Zealand.
