RUGBY, December 3

Mr. Anthony Eden sailed today for the United States of America where he will fulfil a number of speaking engagements. ,

The Foreign Secretary, Lord Halifax, made reference in the House of Lords to Mr. Eden's visit today, which he said was welcomed by his Majesty's Government. It is entirely unofficial.

It is announced officially in Washington that Mr. Eden will visit the capital on December 13, when he is expected to confer with President Roosevelt.
