SALVATION ARMY
BAND FESTIVAL
The annual festival of the Wellington Citadel Salvation Army Band was held on Saturday afternoon and yesterday. The guest conductor was Bandmaster G. X Argyle, conductor of the Ashburton Silver Band and a Territorial band instructor. A rehearsal on Saturday afternoon was followed by a tea for bandsmen arid members of the Band League. The Territorial Commander for New Zealand, Commissioner F. Adams, the secretary of the New Zealand Brass Bands' Association, Mr. C. Patchet, and Bandmaster D. Goffiri spoke. On Saturday night an enjoyable concert was presented in the Vivian Street Citadel. . '
The band attended several services yesterday, and in the afternoon veteran players presented a - special pro-" gramme. * A service of ■: song^|ya.s, !&SJ% in the evening, when the band playedj request numbers. ! There were large attendances at all functions.
Nine members of the band have this year completed service of thirty years or more.
