RETURNS AND REPORTS

The following information has been cabled to the London office of the Martha Gold Mining Co. (Waihi), Ltd.:—For the period'ended November 19, comprising 19 crushing days. 16,503 tons of ore were crushed for a result of 4080 fine oz of gold and 27,349 fine oz of silver. No. 4 Level.—Driving south-west on a vein at 31ft in Pott's crosscut: The next Bft assays 8s a ton. The width of the vein is aoout 4ft. In the next 24ft the reef splits, with the value irregular. MOONLIGHT GOLD. Net profit of £1120, after providing for depreciation and income tax, was earned by the Moonlight Goldfields Co.. Ltd., in the year ended October 21. 1938. The directors report that at the beginning of the year, owing to the height of the face being worked, and the consequent danger of a stoppage of work by falls, it was decided to proceed with further development. To provide an alternative working face the main pipe-line was extended and the necessary branches put in and a completely new tailrace built. The whole of this work has been carried out in a highly successful manner by the manager and his staff. The total amount of gold won during the year was 1178oz, compared with 7420z in the previous year. Wages and salaries took £5617, and repairs and renewals £1073. The gold won realised £9307. Chief assets are: —Mining and water right, £10,022; plant and machinery, £11,366; and cash, £1485. ALEXANDER MINES. Alexander Mines reports for the week ending November 24: —No. 1 Crosscut; Advanced lOJft, making a total distance of 53£ ft from main drive. Work suspended, country unfavourable. Boulder of quartz found in No. 2 crosscut has been driven on 13ft in south end in south-easterly direction. Stone continues to lie fairly flat and shows good values. No. 5 Intermediate: Stoping in progress in south end of leyel. Average width of reef is 30in. Stoping in north end continues on reef averaging 48in. Sent to the battery for the week, 90 tons stone. One day's work lost during week through storm blowing tree across power line. WHITE'S ELECTRIC. White's Electric (Barrytown), Ltd., reports gold won by this company's dredge during the week ended December 1 was 470z of gold from 6500 yds treated in 113 hours' dredging time. NEW RIVER. New River Gold Dredge official return for the week ended December was 40oz of gold from 9000 yards, treated in 121 hours' dredging time. NEMONA. The Nemona dredge returned 20oz for 168 hours from 12,300 yards. WORKS OP. The Worksop Extended return amounted to 330z for 130 hours from 9500 yards. MATAKI. (By Feleeraph— Cress Association.) MURCHISON, December 3. The Mataki Junction return for the week ended December 1 was 490z for 130 hours from 21,000 yards. GREYMOUTH, This Day. The Argo dredge return was 730z for 133 hours, and 14,000 yards excavated. The Blackball Creek return was 59 ounces for 10,500 yards treated and 121 hours. The Barrytown Dredge return during November was 589 ounces for 260,000 yards dredged and 502 hours. The Bundi dredge returned 65 ounces 15dwt for 97 hours and 9948 yards treated.
