RAIL-CAR DEMONSTRATION

RUN

(By Telegraph—l'ress Association.)

AUCKLAND, This Day

Attaining a speed of over 60 miles an hour on sections of the 40-mile route, the rail-car Tokomaru impressed 30 guests of the Railway Department on a demonstration run from Auckland to Papakura and back this morning. The party comprised Mr. G. H. Mackley, General Manager of Railways, and leading railway officials, representatives of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, Education Board, Harbour Board, and other citizens.

The rail-car was practically free from vibration at any speed. The departmental party left Auckland later for Frankton, where they will inspect proposed improvements to the railway yards.
