PIANO RECITAL
MISS MONCRIEFF'S PUPILS
A pianoforte recital by the pupils of Miss Catherine MoncriefT, L.R.S.M., was held last evening in Nimmo's Hall. The numbers covered a wide range of music, and the pupils acquitted themselves with merit.
In a group of Chopin, Miss Nola Faulknor played the Mazurka in G Sharp Minor; Master Alister Wilson, "Polonaise"; and Miss Patricia Inns, "Impromptu." In a Debussy group, Miss Jean Sewell played "La fille aux cheveux de lin," and "Minstrels"; and Master Alister Wilson played "La Cathedrale Engolutie." Miss Faulknor also played "Preludio" (Maurice Greene); and "Novellette" (Schumann). Miss Sewell played the Sonata in C (Scarlatti); and the Intermezzo in E (Brahms). Miss Shirley Slater's numbers were "Chorale" (Bach); the first movement of the Sonata in E Minor (Beethoven); prelude in B minor (Blumenfeld); "Sing a Song of Sixpence" (Leo Livens); and "Ragamuffin" (John Ireland). Miss Patricia Inns played Bach's "Toccata," Rachmaninoff's prelude in B minor, and "To the Moon" (Felix Swinstead). Master Alister Wilson also played Brahms's "Rhapsodic"
In the junior division items were contributed by Kathleen Martin, Betty Jorgenson, June and John McCormick, Jqcelyn Noble-Campbell, Jeanette and Nicoll Thomson, and Maurice Faulknor.
During the evening certificates were presented to successful pupils.
