Konneta, for whom a big offer was refused on Monday, is by Bulandshar from '"'iiny Hours, by Leighton from Los 'S, by Boniform from La Valiere. ..,.;e is a half-sister to Karl and Sergia. La Valiere is a sister to that great three-year-old Nonette, and produced among others Los Angelos, who won the Great Autumn Handicap, one mile and a half, and other good races at Riccarton. She had her first start in the Welcome Stakes at Ellerslie last October, when she ran second to Anopheles, with her stable companion High Caste in third place. Her next effort was in the Wellesley Stakes at Trentham when she finished second to Beaulivre, beating Anopheles for that position by half a head. She was not produced again till Monday, when she won the Rakino Handicap from end to end. \
Mr. Steinberg has been racing horses in Auckland for some time past. He owns Fidelis, a full-brother to the Melbourne Cup a inner Catalogue, and Elanage. Fidelis won his first race at the last Avondale Meeting, and Elanage, who is in J. Fryer's stable inj Melbourne, has performed well there.) Formerly Elanage was in Bagby*s| stable, where Fidelis is also trained. '
