ELFIN PEOPLE.

How eagerly you are looking forward to' Christmas. There s a breath of excitement in every envelope opened. In the city ivindows, pieces of holly, glowing crimson ribbons, and garlands ofsilvery tinsel remind us just how close is December 25. "Lassie" ivho has just smiled around the Ring doorway, has just given me a splendid idea. -She said she had always longed to trim a Christinas Tree. Wouldn't it be a jolly idea for each pixie of the Ring to make a tree? In most other countries every house has its tree. Christmas would not be Christmas without it, but, perhaps, because ive in New Zealand think of Christmas trees with a background of snow and blazing winter fires, ive do not make them except for special Christmas parties. Perhaps there is a small tree in your garden that ivould do. An out-of-door Christmas tree, set in the centre of a lawn, would be very beautiful. If you have no real trees, clever fingers could make one of branches and dark green paper. Begin now to save bright streamers, tinsel ribbons, and balloons. Glitter balls to hang from the end of each branch can be made from old tennis balls covered with gum aiid dipped in glitterdust. Paper hats and bright favours will brighten the branches, and your family gifts may be tied to the tree. You may have even better ideas for Christpias Tree decorations. I hope some of you will try and that you will ivrile and tell me about your Christmas trees. The examination bogies are fleeing before the holiday sprites and their merry plans! Happy days to you all
