NURSING SERVICES
ACTION AT JOHNSONVILLE
The Johnsonville Nursing Association, which has as its object the provision of facilities for the work of the district nurse in Johnsonville, came into existence at a public meeting held in Johnsonville recently. There was a large attendance, including Mr. A. H. Carman, the district's representative on the Wellington Hospital Board; Dr. A. R. Thorne, Medical Superintendent of Wellington Hospital; Nurse Hodder, the district nurse, who is stationed at Porirua; Mr. G. Purvis, Upper Hutt representative on the Hospital Board;' Councillor C. H. Phillips, of the Makara County Council; and Commissioner C. R. Fisher, of the Johnsonville Town Board, convener of the meeting.
The meeting was addressed by Mr. Carman and Dr. Thorne. It was pointed out that Nurse Hodder was available for necessitous cases at Johnsonville, and the meeting was informed that she could be communicated with by a toll call to No. 285, Porirua, and that to ensure early attention it was advisable to get into touch with her before 9 a.m.
It was disclosed that a dental clinic for adults and for children who have left school is soon to be established at Porirua and that the service will also be available to JdhnsonviHe.
The Johnsonville Nursing Association was formed and the following
committee was, elected:—Messrs. J. R,
Richardson (chairman), A. Shearer (secretary), R. Stephens, C. H. Phillips, C. R. Fisher, Mesdames Wolf, L. Mason, D. Mason, McGlihchy, and Gandy.
It has been decided to enlist the co-operation of members of the Johnsonville Town Board in the project, and, if possible, obtain from the board use of a suitable room so that the district nurse could pay weekly visitsv to Johnsonville for the purpose of meeting patients regularly.
