QUESTION FOR L.T.A.
TOURNAMENT EXPENSES
(Received December 2, 11.45 a.m.)
LONDON, December 1
The "Daily Telegraph's" tennis writer, Mr. A. Wallis Myers, discussing the proposal to legalise the payment of expenses of competitors in open tournaments which will be considered by the Lawn Tennis Association on December 9, declares that it should not be difficult to agree on a formula by which a player will be allowed to compete in any sanctioned tournament, receiving such hospitality as the committee is able to arrange.
He adds that the belief that it is necessary to make championship tennis a whole-time occupation is fallacious.
