MIRAMAR ESPERANTO

SOCIETY

The weekly meeting of the Miramar Esperanto Society took place last Tuesday night in the clubroom, St. Aidan's Hall, Miramar Avenue. Mr. Bertram Potts, J.P., F.8.E.A., presided. Mr. James MacKay acted as secretary in the unavoidable absence of Mr. J. E. Wells. The president alluded to the forthcoming Ninth New Zealand Esperanto Congress, which would take place in Wellington on December 31, January 1 and 2. Delegates and visitors were meeting from many parts of New Zealand, and great interest was being taken in Esperanto circles; In addition to business sessions and lecturettes there would be an excursion to the beauty spots around Wellington, and an Esperanto entertainment would be one of the features of the congress. Arrangements were well under way to make this the most memorable and successful congress in the history of the movement in New Zealand. Several foreign visitors would be present, ariA the occasion should not be missed bylocal Esperantists to participate in such an outstanding event. The evening was devoted to tuition and examination.. ,
