SMALL TEAM FOR OTAKI

Although Awapuni furnishes three of the six acceptors in the hurdle event at Otaki, local stables are poorly represented, and track operations were lacking in interest as a result yesterday morning. On the plough, which was in good order. Porotiti ran six furlongs in company with Tail Light in lmin 20 4-ssec, the pair finishing on terms after registering the fastest time for the distance of the morning. Royal Record and Dainty Sue fulfilled a similar task. They ran the full journey in lmin 21sec "after covering the first three furlongs in 40 2-ssec. It was another good effort. Silver River was let off with a light task on the tan, being speeded up for ths run down the straight. Great Legion was given similar work. He appears to have improved as the result of his outmg at Feilding. The Buzzer, the Auckland Cup candidate, worked over a round on the plough^ coming home the last six furlongs in lmin 21 3-ssec. The Beau Pere fillies Chevychase and Millament covered three furlongs in the smart time of 38 2-ssec.
Beaupartir had Thrasos as a companion over six furlongs. They ran the first three furlongs in 41sec and the full distance in lmin 21sec. Beaupartir, however, was going very easily.
La Coquette and Katesbridge were sprinted two furlongs in 26sec, time they could have improved on.
White Gold sprinted six furlongs on the plough, and she was going strongly at the finish to record lmin 20 4-5 sec, the last two furlongs in 28sec.
Coloney Bogey, who will have his first race at Woodville, and Bumble sprinted six furlongs, running the last five in lmin 7sec.
Riding engagements announced for Otaki are:—W. J. McDowell, Porotiti; W. E. Pine, Royal Record; S. Anderson, Lady Baron, Screen Star, Day Mist; J. Chaplin, Silver River, All Blood. Great Legion, and Dainty Sheila.
