AUTOMOBILE PARTY
MIRAMAR TENNIS CLUB
The Miramar Tennis Club held another very successful dance and social evening in St. Aidan's Hall recently, when over sixty members and friends attended. The evening was designated "An automobile party," and the energies of the social committee were concentrated on giving the appropriate "flavour" to the decorations, as well as the programme.
Items, competitions, games, and community singing were interspered between dances. "Lights Against You" Monte Carlo was won by Miss Joan Cooper and Mr. C. Lust, and the winner of the competition was Mrs. P. Binning.
A dainty supper was handed round by the "filling station" attendants. Four members of the club contributed items—Mrs. R. Cowie (song), Messrs. P. Binning (extra), H. Tucker (eccentric tap dance), and J. Suckling (song). Those present greatly appreciated their numbers. Music for the dancing and community singing was provided by Mr. T. Swinburne, and Miss P. Stephens accompanied the soloists. The club captain, Mr. J. Telford, was a capable M.C.
Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Hay, Mr. and Mrs. J. Macdonald, Mr. and Mrs. Meadows, Mr. and Mrs. Binning, Mr. and Mrs. Langridge, Mr. and Mrs. R. Cowie, Mr. and Mrs. Johnston, Mr. and Mrs. Tucker, Mrs. Lawler, and Mrs. Hislop; Misses M. Haslam, P. Berry, K. Hoskins, V. Taylor, A. Macdonald, M. Purdey, J. Sewell, F. Davis, E. Rigby, and Messrs. W. Ham, S. Reed, R. Rashbrooke, A. W. Cooper, P. and R. Henry, A. L. Elborn, A. Childs, and C. Morris.
