MANNERS ARE MENDED
An interesting opinion relative to the waywardness of the brilliant northern colt Te Hero was voior by the Trentham jockey P. Burgess at the recent Auckland Meeting.
"Te Hero is a very highly-strung colt," said Burgess, he is only now commencing to drop his wayward habits. At Trentham I did not allow him to stand flat-footed at the I barrier, and when the starter said 'go' I had him a little behind the others, but on the move. As the result he: jumped into his stride right away, and although he ran about a little it was nothing to worry about." : It was only a fluke mount for Burgess at the Wellington Meeting, as his regular pilot, C. G. Goulsbro', suffered a compound fracture of "the ankle when kicked at the post in the preceding race when riding Anopheles. However, the association proved a happy one, for Te Hero dead-heated with Alunga in the open sprint on the first day. and followed this up by running a good second to Defaulter in the Trentham Stakes.
