MAGISTRATE'S COURT

A remand until October 14 was granted Ronald Thomas Henderson, a labourer, aged 29, who appeared before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today, charged with breaking and entering the shop of Basil Clement Tonks, Farish "Street, on or about September 30, and stealing 18s. Henderson was also charged jointly with Ernest Clarence Williams, a labourer, aged 24, with breaking and entering the office of Tolley and Spence, Willis Street, on or about October 7, with intent to commit a crime. A remand to the same date was granted in this case.

Albert John Darby, a traveller, aged 58, who was charged with obtaining amounts totalling £3 8s 9d from the New Zealand Government Labour Department by means of a false pretence, was remanded to appear on Monday.

For a breach of a probation order, William Fraser, a painter, aged 38, was convicted and sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment.

Two second statutory offenders for drunkenness,; John Richard Rosedale Ryder, a boilermaker, aged 39, and Alfred Ernest Swan, a wharf labourer, aged 32, were each convicted and fined 10s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment.
