LADY MARIE FILLY

DEBUT LIKELY ON MONDAY

(Special to the "Evening Post.")

TAKANINI, October 7.

Plenty of solid work has been Bachelor King's lot during the past few weeks, and he appears to be thriving on it. A sprinter of note, he may be produced at Ellerslie on Monday and he is in the right order to do himself justice. . It is the intention of A. Tinker to give the Foxbridge—Lady Marie filly her initial race on the second day of < the Auckland Meeting, and no doubt her appearance will create a lot of interest, as she ranks as a half-sister to Gay Sheila, Gay Blonde, Gay Sheik, Gay Brunette, Marie's Acre, and Philcourt. Judging by her progress of late, it will not be long before this filly is • found emulating the deeds of her relatives. . A two-year-old who is drawing atten--1 tion to his future prospects is the Sur- ; veyor—Lady Lucille colt Glenconnell, ! a member of J. Cruses team. Glenconnell is a very robust type, and is really only just commencing to take an interest in his work. With a race or two, he should be found acquitting himself well among the j uveniles. Anagram, who was fired . some months ago, and who latterly has been subjected to a course of roadwork, is again requiring attention from his trainer, and it is not very hopeful that there are signs of a recurrence of the trouble at this early stage of proceedings. . , , . Brilliant Acre is being schooled over low fences and is adapting himseli well to this department of the game. Possessing the necessary pace, he may make good as a hurdler. Poker Dice returned to active work this week, and since he was last seen The Ace gelding has furnished to^ a marked degree. Possessing more than the ordinary pace for a novice, he should soon be ready to race, as he has done a lot of serviceable roadwork. Nearing racing condition, Grateful is bowling along in great style in pacework. He looks better now than ever. Backed and beaten at Paeroa, Pocket Venus never really flattered the hopes of her admirers at any stage. It is stated that she was suffering from soreness on the eve of the meeting, and her subsequent absence from the tracks may confirm this. Valamito has returned to form and is revealing all his former dash m his work. There is every indication mat he will earn distinction in the best handicap company this term, and his initial appearance this season will not be long delayed, in view of the excellent progress he'has-made-of late. The speedy Valimeen and Ivy Willonyx, two members of C. Morse s team, are now among the active workers, and in both cases they have resumed in excellent order to undergo a preparation for summer racmg. Valimeen's future is regarded very hopefully, and if all goes well she should be found reaching a high place among those of her age this season. . High Quality has been schooling well of late, and, although it is considered that his preparation has not been of - lons enough duration to; find nun a , whiner at Ellerslie on M6nday, he is , coming to hand quickly, and his form . should be enlightening in view of the ; fact that he is among the nominations , for the Wellington Meeting. Maxam, , Orelio Anophlles, and Royevrus are , Others'from this district with the same . trip in view. * . 1
