BUTTER PRICES
BIG RISE UNLIKELY
MR. lORNS RETURNS
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, This Day.
Mr. W. lorns, former chairman of the Dairy Board, returned by the Mataroa today. He said there was not much prospect of any considerable rise in dairy prices. The carry over in supplies from last season was fairly heavy and the competition of margarine was an important factor. When dairy prices temporarily touched a high peak last spring the consumption of margarine increased by five hundred tons per week. The quality of New Zealand cheese was better than it had ever been, and merchants were very pleased with the improvement made by New Zealand.
