HOUSING AT OTAKI
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—Mr. Andrews made no misstatement when referring to sections bought by the Government in this area. The error rose by the published report of his speech, saying "in Otaki," instead of "in the Otaki electorate." The cases he quoted are in the borough of Levin, and the street Devon Street West. The sections have a foot of water on them every winter and no one in this town would have had them at a gift. The sections were filled in with boulders and subsoil (making lovely gardens, these), at a cost of £300; the total area is about half an acre. Good, dry sections were offered to the Department at £100 each. Let Mr. Lowry explain this away. I happen to know more about Levjn than he does.—l am, etc., TAXPAYER.
