GAY CHOU'S WEIGHTING
The handicapper who has been dealing with Gay Chou since this geldings importation from Australia seems to have made a hurried retreat from the opinion he was advancing about what weight should be given the horse He started him off at Wanganui with 9.0, and then twice dropped him lib for. running thirds at his first two starts in the Dominion. It was therefore not the least surprising that Gay Chou should come home at Otaki at his third start in the Dominion, for he was carrying only 8.12, and in his last start in Australia he won under 9.2 over, a mile at-Moorefield. . ,-,.,-, m,™ The consequence is that Gay Chou has been hoisted to 9.6 at Mastevton, and Alunga, who had 8.9 at Otaki, is dropped to 8.7. That is a difference of 101b compared with Otaki, whicn is much more than the form would ordinarily have entailed in such class orer the same distance.
