BROOKLYN BATHS
INFORMATION DESIRED
The proposed Centennial Swimming Pool for Brooklyn was mentioned at the monthly meeting of the Brooklyn District Municipal Electors' Association last night, and it was stated that residents desired further information on the subject.
Mr. H. R. Wright said that residents who had subscribed to the fund, and others who were willing to contribute, were inquiring as to what action the City Council proposed to take.
A letter was received from the council stating that it would give consideration to the cost of the swimming pool when framing next year's estimates.
The chairman, Dr. L. G. Austin, said that a conference to be held shortly would help towards an early start being made with the work necessary before the building could be commenced. Certain negotiations now taking place would definitely hasten the building of the pool, and residents should have no fear that the facility would not become an important asset of the district. Nevertheless, despite any outside assistance that the swimming pool committee might obtain, the district was committed to subscribe £1500, -and the sooner that sum could be obtained, the sooner could the residents expect a muchwanted amenity to become a reality.
