ASSOCIATION WITH A.M.P.

Special interest attaches to the late Sir Harold Beauchamp's long association with the Australian Mutual Provident Society as director, deputy chairman, and chairman, covering a period of 23 years.

Sir Harold retired from the board in June, 1935, on account of his advancing age, and at the last meeting of the board he attended on April 10, 1935, a splendid tribute was paid by his colleagues for his valuable services to the society and to the community. During his association with the society in New Zealand he had the unique record of working with no less than five different managers.

The late Mr. Joseph Dyer, Sir Harold's father-in-law, opened a branch office of the society in Wellington in 1871, and had associated with him the late Mr. E. W. Lowe, who, in later years, became manager for New Zealand and subsequently a branch director. Thus the late Sir Harold's family, •during their association with the society has seen the business in force in New Zealand grow from nothing to the total'of over £50,000,000, and the total New Zealand assets to £20,000,000. The A.M.P. Society was represented at Sir Harold's funeral by Sir William Hunt (chairman), Mr. J. G. Duncan, and Sir Alexander Roberts (directors), Messrs. W. T. Ikin (manager for New Zealand), C. J. A. McDonald (submanager), H. B. G.'Waljer and F. Turner (executive officers), and several members of the Wellington staff.
