BRITAIN AND ITALY
CONVERSATIONS IN. ROME
(Received October 6, 10.5.0 a.m.) LONDON, October 5.
The Rome correspondent of the British United Press states that the British Ambassador, Lord Perth, saw the Foreign Minister, Count Ciano, for the third time in three days. It is understood that they discussed firstly, the date of the Italian evacuation of Spain and whether the advisers should withdraw with the infantry; secondly, the date of Britain's recognition of the Italian Empire in Ethiopia; and thirdly, the time and method of operating the Anglo-Italian Treaty. It is believed that they are anxious to complete the negotiations in order to secure the approval of the Fascist Grand Council at a meeting on October 7.
