TRENTHAM DEFENCE CLUB

The annual meeting of the Trentham Defence Tennis Club was held recently, Mr, H. M. Reid presiding over a good attendance. The chairman drew attention to the flourishing state of the club as shown in the balance-sheet. The previous season's increased membership had been easily retained, the annual report said, and from this point of view the club had had a successful season.

It.was decided that the club opening will be held on October 15.

Officers for the season were elected as follows: —Patron, Mr. W. T. Barton; president, Captain E. L. G. Bown; vicepresidents, Messrs. J. K. Wilson, J. K< Johnston, J. Jackson, and W. O. Thomas; hon. secretary, Mr. T. G. Chapman: hon. treasurer, Mr. R. J. Gamble; hon. auditor, Mr. J. K. Wilson; club captain, Mr. E. L. George; vice-captain, Mr. R. P. Kennedy: selectors, Messrs. E. L. George and R. P. Kennedy; delegates to the Hutt ValleyLawn Tennis Sub-Association, Messrs. T. G. Chapman, E. L. George, and R. P. Kennedy; committee, Iwfcrs. R. J. Gamble, Misses E. Johnston, E. Millen, and E. Scott, Messrs. H. M. Reid, G. McCulloch, and T. Trappitt. The club will again enter a junior and third grade team in the inter-club competitions of the Hutt Valley Lawn Tennis Association.
