GIFT TO THE QUEEN
LETTER TO CHRISTCHURCH
NURSE
Nurse G. Francis, of Salisbury Street, well known as an exhibiting artist in fine needlework, recently heard from one of the ladies-in-wait-ing to her Majesty the Queen that one of her pictures had been accepted by the Queen. Nurse Francis sent the work (a picture of a Maori girl) to Lady Dawson of Perm for presentation to the Queen, and a letter from Lady Katharine Seymour to Nurse • Francis was. shown to the "Press" yesterday.
"Her Majesty has commanded me to advise you that she is graciously pleased to accept the charming Maori picture which you have sent for presentation to her," it said. "The Queen much admires your work, and thanks you warmly for the gift. Her Majesty was interested to hear that you are still able to do such fine needlework at the age of 77."
