Strong north-westerly winds to galas* prevailed yesterday south of Taranaki and Hawke's Bay, but during the night a change to fresh to strong south-westerlies has advanced as far north as Kawhia and Napier. In. eastern districts the weather has been fair te> fine and very warm. Otago and Southland have had changeable and showery conditions with some hail squalls about Foveauz Strait, while in western districts It has been cloudy • with some rain in Westland and about Auckland.
