TOOHEY'S BUILD UP RESERVES.
Sir' Mark Sheldon, chairman of the company, has stated that it is the in-. *lfir*iionof the directors of Toohey's Limited,. Sydney; gradually to add to reserves.- Although present reserves might appear sufficient against capital,* Stated Sir Mark, they-had to keep in /mind their responsibility in connection with , Tooheys Securities, Limited. The amount received by the Commonwealth Government from beer excise. for .the year ended June 30, 1938; Was £6,921,451. This compared with £6,109,526 for the previous year,; and is, the highest total for at least sixteen years. "Any increase on the present, rate would show a diminution in total revenue from that source," Sir Mark added.
