GOLDEN DAWN MINE STOPPED

A report by the Waihi correspondent of the "New Zealand Herald" states that 30 fmen working underground in the.Golden Dawn mine at Owharoa, have been suspended because of the decision of the management to stop development work until readjustments in the finances of the company are made. Treatment of. the ore broken is being continued, however, and it is hoped that the mine will be fully manned before long. It is understood that a number of the men have been absorbed by the Martha Go}d Mining Company (Waihi) Limited. The secretary of the company, Mr. M. H. Wynyard, has explained that negotiations are proceeding with the Government on the question of the extension of further finance to the company. Officers of the Department had already reported and a reply was being awaited.
