COLONIES ISSUE

> LABOUR ATTITUDE

(Received October 5, 2 pm)

LONDON, October 4,

In the House of Lords, Lord Strabolgi (Labour) expressed the hope that more would be heard about the FrancoBritish guarantee to Czechoslovakia. He and his party would resist it because it would lead to more anguish. The alternative to the Four-Power Pact was a World Pact. Labour thought there should be a colonial settlement as part of the general settlement, not as a sop or a surrender to armed force. He believed the surrenders made already would bring dishonour without peace.
