Signalled by a low whistle from the darkness, the 100 Arab rebels who car* rie<4 out a house-to-house massacre launched on Tiberias the worst night of terror in Palestine since the open- . ing of the campaign. Rabbi Asha Werner says that the Arabs were mostly between the ages of 17 and 20. They attacked Kiryatt Samuel village, and a husband and wife were stabbed to death in a house next door to the synagogue, A mother and five children were stabbed and burnt to death while the father, Con» stable Mizrahim, was ' guarding the Government buildings. Two wooden houses next to Con« stable Mizrahim's were the scene of even more ghastly tragedies. Joshua Benarieh and his wife and son were stabbed and fatally burnt, and a baby box shot dead. Three visiting child* ren were stabbed and fatally burnt, and, in the other dwelling, a man named Kalpin and his sisters w«re stabbed and fatally burnt. His widow escaped. Casualties at the weekend were 140,. including 85 rebels. The trans-Jordan frontier police quelled the disturbance. .
