PLEDGE FOR PEACE
ANGLO-FRENCH ACCORD
(Received October 5, 10 a.m.) PARIS, October 4. Thanking Mr. Chamberlain for his message of October 2, the Premier, M. Daladier, said:—
"Your message has profoundly touched the French nation. Your feelIngs correspond with mine. France during the crisis felt that the bonds of cordial friendship and esteem between Britain and France were still tighter. Like my compatriots, I admired your burning desire for peace and your great and firm comprehension of the vital Anglo-French interests, and of France's in particular. The obligations of our collaboration do not exclude any other understanding. I am convinced it will remain the surest pledge for future peace."
