MOTOR MECHANIC'S DEATH
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
ROTORUA, October 4,
Terrible injuries, which resulted in instantaneous death, were received this afternoon by William Wilde, aged about 30, married, motor mechanic, when he was crushed by a heavy sixwheeler truck upon which he was carrying out repairs at the Waiwera Garage.
The fatality occurred at about 4 o'clock, when Mr. Wilde was repairing the" springs of the truck, which was jacked up. After scrambling underneath he worked on the springs for some time, but when his foreman, Mr. L. Davis, addressed a question to him there was no response.
On investigation the foreman discovered that the jack had slipped, placing the full weight of the chassis upon the unfortunate ■ man's body, which was shockingly crushed.
