Lou Novy, a rangy Californi an, entered the heavyweight boxing picture tonight by technically knocking out Gunnar Barlund (Sweden) in the seventh round of a scheduled 15-round bout. Novy thus qualified to meet Maurice Strickland (New Zealand) or Tommy Farr (Wales).
