CHRISTIANITY, NOT RELIGION

A strong denial of a statement that the Labour Party was introducing religion into politics was made by Mr. H~ E. Combs, Labour candidate for Wellington Suburbs, at a meeting in Lower Hutt last evening. The statement, he said, was made .by the National Party, but it was wrong. The Labour Party was not introducing, religion; it was introducing Christianity—a very different thing. He was not a close student of the Bible, said Mr. Combs, but Christ had told the people to feed the hungry, clothe the, naked, and shelter the homeless. That was what the Labour Party had done, and as much Christianity as possible.was wanted in politics.
