SOCIAL AFTERNOON

MRS. P. FRASER HONOURED

Mrs. J. Bentley, a member of the Labour Party committee for the Wei-' lingtou Central electorate, gave a party in the Congregational Hall, Cambridge Terrace, yesterday afternoon in honour of Mrs. Peter Fraser, wife of the candidate for the district. There was a large attendance of women. Mrs. Bentley and Mrs. Fraser were seated on the stage, which was bedecked with flowers. Mrs. Bentley presented the guest of honour with a bouquet of flowers and also with a morocco writing case from an anonymous "admirer and friend" whom Mr. Fraser had helped during the depression. Songs were sung by Mrs. Ulver-

ston and amusing recitations were given by her small son. Before tea was served, Mrs. Fraser made a speech,, giving her reasons for taking the public platform during the election campaign.
