GOLF DANCE AT FORDELL

WANGANUI, October 4,
Fordell Hall was again the scene of a delightful dance recently, the occasion being the first annual ball of the Fordell Golf Club. The club committee comprised: Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Sutherland, Mr. and Mrs. H. Aiken, Mr. and Mrs. B. ,C. Annaud, Mr. and Mrs. ■L. Cavanagh, Mesdames A. H. McLean, C. Beattie, G. Bousfield, J. Morgan, J. Lee; Misses Williams and McGregor, and Messrs. B. Higgie, C. Forlong, J. Howie, and M. McGregor. Among the dancers were Mesdames M. B. Hirst, L. A. McDonald, E. Mind, G. Leach, R. Sommerville, E. Clutteibuck, J. Mcßeth, N. Neilson, M. Bourne, H. C. Munro, J. Treewick, J. O'Brien, J. N. Thwaites, and Misses J. Dennison, R. Mete-Kingi, B. McDonald, T. Anderson, E. Neilson, M. Burden, S. Mason, M. Anderson, and J. Bailey. Visit to Girls' Hostel. Members of the Wanganui and Westmere branches of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union chartered a bus for a visit to the newly acquired W.D. home at Palmerston North, previously used as a girls' hostel in connection with the Flock House scheme. The Division will take the home over at the beginning of the year, and is already planning the furnishing. Those who made the trip were, the Mayoress of Wanganui (Mrs. W. J. Rogers), Mrs. S. Scott (president of the Wanganui branch), Mesdames T. E. Soundy, J. Hardy, J. Blyth, L. Lampitt, J. Summerell, G. McDougal, J. Butcher, J. | Macleay, May, Hood, J. Hughes, H. jSherriff, and S. Robinson, Wood, Coliway, arid Misses Cole, Morgan, and Aherne. Thirty-first Birthday Party. Trinity Women's Missionary Auxiliary celebrated its thirty-first- birthday recently, when five, foundation members, Mesdames W. G. Bassett, Webb-Jones, N. Brown, J. Wychodie, and J. Wood were present. A delightful programme was presented by Mrs. Harman. Afternoon tea and a social hour were enjoyed. Card and Dance Party. Mrs. D. M. Forbes was hostess last week at a. card and dance. party to assist the funds of the Cairns Tennis Club. Some 15 tables were occupied and after supper the rooms were cleared for dancing. Gard prizes were won by Mrs. F. Warnock, Miss Coffins,. and% Mr. Owen.. Beautiful spring flowers were used for decorating. Personals... . ■, ■ . ~ Miss F. Continuing the programme arranged for 'Animal Week," the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is holding a social evening tonight at the University Women's Club, 196 Lambton Quay.. A good attendance is expected.
