Mrs. B. B. Wood, Christchurch, is visiting Wellington for the Government House ceremony tonight and is the guest of Mrs. Eric Riddiford, Orongo rongo. Miss G. Hoddinott, Timaru, Dominion secretary of the Plunket Society, is visiting Wellington. Miss Hoddinott, who is accompanied by her mother,, will be invested tonight with the order of M.B.E. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wall, Martinborough, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the Maunganui from Sydney. Miss A. M. Knight, Girl Guide Commissioner, who has been touring the Dominion in the interests of the Guide movement, left Auckland by the Niagara yesterday for England. Mrs. M. H. Godby and Miss Helen Buchanan, Christchurch, will arrive at Wellington on Sunday en route to New Plymouth, where they Will compete in the Dominion golf championship. Mrs.W. Duthie, Wellington, is staying with her daughter, Mrs. W. N. Abbott, Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Kelly, Christchurch, arrived at Wellington this morning for the investiture ceremony tonight. Mrs. Kelly will be invested with the M.B.E. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Withers, Rotorua. have returned to London from a visit to Germany, states "The Post's" correspondent. They went to Leipzig and Berlin. Mr. Withers's visit is chiefly in the nature of a holiday for the purpose of obtaining ideas from the Motor Show and the Glasgow Accompanied by Mrs. Withers, he will leave for New Zealand, via Canada, at the end of November or early in December. Mrs. James Bruce, Ashburton, is visiting Wellington for the investiture at Government House, when Miss Mary Lambie will be invested with the Order of'the British Empire. While in Wellington Mrs. Bruce will stay with Miss Lambie. Mrs. J. N. Wallace, Khandallah, who has been spending a holiday with her daughter, Miss Julia Wallace, New Plymouth, has returned home. Mrs. A. L. Wall, Seatoun, Dominion secretary of the League of Mothers, returned yesterday from Dunedin, where she attended the Otago provincial meeting of the L.O.M. Mrs. Tristram Willcox, Christchurch, is spending a holiday with her sister, Mrs. P. P. Hanna, Karori. Miss Elsie Andrews, New Plymouth, is visiting Wellington for the investiture at Government House when the Order of the M.B.E. will be conferred upon her. JVIr. and Mrs. H. G. Livingstone, Riccarton, arrived at Wellington this morning to attend the reception . at Government House tonight. Mrs. R. J. Grant, New Plymouth, arrived yesterday to spend a holiday in Wellington. Mrs. T. N. Grange, Wellington, is visiting Christchurch for the wedding of her grand-daughter, Miss Gwen Grange ,to Mr. J. T. Watts, which took place yesterday.. Mrs. H. Isherwood, Wellington, is making a short visit to New Plymouth. Mrs. Loman Smith, Wade Street, is the guest of Mrs. Alfred Kidd, Brookfields, Waiuku. Dr: and Mrs. A. B. O'Brien, Christchureh, have just returned to London form a;visit to the Continent, and they will be leaving for New Zealand early in October, states "The Post's" representative, writing on September 8. While in Belgium they were present at the ordination to the priesthood, of their son, the Rev. Barnard O'Brien, S.J. • Mrs. C. Kelly (Christchurch), Mrs. Tennent (Wales), Mrs. D. Hunter and Miss Forrester Alexander (Melbourne), Miss Pat Urquhart (South Africa), and Miss Phoebe Leicester (England) are staying at the Midland" Hotel. Mrs. J. S. Barton, who has been the guest of Mrs. Herbert Lawry, Palmerston North, for the weekend, returned yesterday to Lower Hutt. Mrs. T. R. Chaplin, Whangarei, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. H. Hand, Wellington. Mrs. E. Young (Napier), Mrs. W. Dalziell and Mrs. S. L. P. Free (Masterton), are guests at the Royal Oak Hotel. Mesdames Linklater (Palmerston North), H. G. Livingstone, F. G. Bristed, A. R. Harris, J. R. Page (Christchurch), Ganty (Sydney), Misses M. Dart (Chris'tchurch), and S. Reynolds (Napier) are at the Hotel Waterloo.
