The Prime Minister (the Rt.; Hon. M. J. Savage) is expected to return to Wellington from the south tomorrow.

Mr. T. Jackson. Mayor of Rotorua, accompanied by Mr. O. .H. Coieman, of Rotorua, and piloted by Mr. S. J. Blackmore, arrived in Wellington by air yesterday, and leave on their return today.

Dr. H. Kunzru, a member of the Indian delegation to the British Commonwealth Relations Conference, who is returning home, arrived by the Maunganui yesterday. He visited various educational institutions in . the city and conferred with Dr. C. E. Beeby, Assistant Director of Education. - - . ■

Mr. H. Hague-Smith, who has acted as secretary of the Wangahui Chamber of Commerce for over 30 years, has resigned through ill health. The chamber has placed on record its ap-? preciation of his services.

Captain V. C. White-Parsons Captain J. J. Cameron, who retired from the service of the New Zealand Shipping Company, Limited, several years ago, are travelling on theßangitiki, which is due at Auckland, on October 19.

Dr. EL P. Picker ill arrived from' Sydney by the Niagara on Monday, and will spend, a few days in Auckland before proceeding to Wellington, He' has been absent from New Zealand for about two months.

Mr. F. G. Nind. chief postmaster, at Invercargill, has been appointed senior inspector at the Wellington, Post Office. He will take up his new duties shortly.

Mr. K. L. Gillies, superintending engineer of the Union Steam' Ship Company of New Zealand, Limited,, has returned from Sydney. • .

Mr. Hope Gibbons, of Wanganui, who has been on a tour of the East arid Europe/returns to New Zealand tomorrow.

Eulogistic references to the services of Mr. W. F. Cuthbertson; a member of the- Wellington Chamber' of Com* merce who- is transferring, to Auckland, were paid at a meeting of the council of the chamber last- evening. Mr. Cuthbertson has been a member of the chamber-for eleven years. He was vice-president in 1917. and president in 1922.
