AID TO THE CZECHS
LEADING POWERS
£50,000,000 SUGGESTION
(Received October 4, 9.20 a.m.)
LONDON, October 3,
It is suggested that the Powers, notably Britain and France, should financially assist Czechoslovakia to the extent of £50,000,000, enabling her to re-establish herself, since they promised to guarantee her.
The National Council of Labour has started a Czech fund with a sum of £2000.
The National Council of Labour has issued a statement in relation to Czechoslovakia, stating: "It is the duty of the Governments which sanctioned the cession of the territory and allowed its occupation by Germany's armed forces to protect the Czechoslovak people against acts of tyranny, spoliation, and injustice. We demand that Czechs held as hostages for German prisoners should be immediately re* leased. We .appeal to Britishers to subscribe generously to an international fund to relieve distress in Czechoslovakia."
