NAZI SALUTE GIVEN

MR. ROOSEVELT HONOURED

(Received October 4, 9 a.m.)

SAN FRANCISCO, October 3,

The Mayor (Mr. Angelo Rossi) and the German Consul-General (Baron yon Killinger) attended a Germany Day meeting. Baron yon Killinger praised President Roosevelt for his intervention in the European crisis, and the audience rose at his suggestion and gave the Nazi salute in honour of Mr. Roosevelt.

Police fought anti-Nazi demonstrators waving American flags and arrested twelve, including five women. One woman fainted. She complained that a policeman kicked her.
