REPLY WANTED

THE COUNTRY QUOTA

MR. WILKINSON'S PEMAND

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) ELTHAM. This Day. Mr. C. A. Wilkinson,, the Independent candidate for Egmont, last night again referred to the question of the "country quota," which he stated was all important to country electorates. So far there had been no satisfactory reply in regard to this question, he said. The Prime Minister in the House evaded the question. : He said he would not give the questioner an answer but would give an answer to the country. So far an answer was not forthcoming. The Hon. R. Semple, in his reply to v the question, stated that the Labour" Party was not concerned with the country quota. ■ -The Hon. W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, had made a statement far from satisfactory, the report of his answer being that the country quota would not be interfered with during the first session of Parliament. This, Mr. Wilkinson stated, was a somewhat childish answer, as there would be two further sessions in the new Parliament either of which could effect a change. The country wanted a satisfactory, as-

surance from a more responsible' Minister than Mr. Martin, who, of course, was one of the minor members of the Cabinet.
