A BRILLIANT VICTORY
ROYAL CHIEF AGAIN
SECOND DAY AT RANDWICK
(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) . SYDNEY, October 3. Royal Chief, justifying expert racing opinions, demonstrated that he is the best stayer at Randwick by coming from the rear of the fießd and winning today's Metropolitan Handicap in race record time. Buzalong, who threatened most danger, was beaten by the super horse of the meeting. The jockey, Bartle, said Royal Chief galloped not too kindly early, other horses ahead hampering him. Bartle then pulled Royal Chief out and trailed Gold Rod to the home turn, whence he came home in good style, but had little in reserve at the finish. Other wellbacked horses had no chance with the winner. - The New Zealand representative, Beau Mari, in the Breeders' Plate, had every chance, but "the dead-heaters, Beaucaire and Royal Sceptre, had the issue between themselves at the distance. The Queenslander, Thurles Lad, confirmed his Epsom Handicap form by winning the Shorts after leading all the way. . • , The weather was again fine and the attendance very large.
