The correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph" at Barcelona says that the Loyalist Parliament met on September 30 and October 1 in the greatest secrecy. The members met first in the nine centuries old monastery of San Cugat del Valle, near Barcelona and then in the boardroom of the Provincial Bank of Sabadell, 170 of the 470 members participating. Patrols of aeroplanes manoeuvred overhead to guar4 against an attack. The Premier (Senor Negrin) emphasised the necessity for the cessation of foreign intervention in order to allow Spaniards to arrange their own affairs. He said that there could be no armistice while intervention continued but that once it was withdrawn the situation would change. He had supreme faith in Spain's power of recovery i£ her enemies ceased the warfare before1 the country was exhausted. Representatives of the Catalan and, Basque parties offered full collaboray tion to the Government. A formeE| Minister (Senor Irujo) urged that thai Catholic churches should be reopened. After the meeting at Sabadell Parlia«r| ment adjourned indefinitely. Approvali was given to the Budget, which estimated expenditure at 8,403,000,000! pesetas and income at 8,309,000,0001 pesetas.
